Agaricus bisporus

These all-around favorites range from creamy white to light brown, in sizes small to jumbo. The flavor is mild and woodsy when eaten raw and intensifies when cooked. Open cap (mature) mushrooms have a richer, deeper taste.

Introducing Vitamin D enhanced sliced mushrooms!

When mushrooms are exposed to UV light it is converted into Vitamin D similar to how our skin converts sunlight into Vitamin D. The process is entirely natural and all we do is provide the light! Look for our enhanced Vitamin D sliced products at your local stores.

Selection

Look for mushrooms with a fresh, smooth appearance and closed caps to use raw in salads or for most cooking. Mushrooms with open caps generally have a richer flavor perfect for sauces, pizzas and soups.

Storage and Handling

Ostrom's white mushrooms don't have to be used immediately. They'll stay fresh for 5-7 days if you keep them refrigerated. Store bulk mushrooms in a paper bag in the refrigerator. If you purchase Ostrom's white mushrooms in our shrink-wrapped package, it's a good idea to open up the top, remove the plastic wrap from cup mushrooms and cover loosely with a paper towel.

Don't forget! You do not have to wash, soak or peel mushrooms. Simply wipe clean with a damp paper towel immediately before using, you can trim the stems if they appear dry.
