Selection

Look for mushrooms with a fresh, smooth appearance and caps that are free of blemishes. Oyster mushrooms are best if cooked. They are often used in Asian dishes and soups but lend themselves well to light sauces for poultry, fish, pasta and vegetarian dishes.

Storage and Handling

Ostrom's oyster mushrooms don't have to be used immediately. They'll stay fresh for 5-7 days if you keep them refrigerated. Store bulk mushroom in a paper bag. If you purchase Ostrom's oyster mushrooms in our shrink-wrapped package, it's a good idea to remove the plastic wrap from packaged oyster mushrooms, open up the top and cover loosely with a paper towel.

Don't forget! You do not have to wash, soak or peel oyster mushrooms. Simply trim the roots from the stem.
